Cookie Policy

Introduction
This page explains how the isp6 Knowledge Base at kb.isp6.net uses cookies
and similar storage technologies on your device. It is provided to comply with
the United Kingdom's Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003
(PECR), the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the European Union's
ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC and the EU General Data Protection Regulation
2016/679.
This site is a static documentation site. It contains no analytics, no advertising, no marketing pixels, and no behavioural tracking. The information below covers everything that is, or could be, stored on your device as a result of visiting this site.
What this site sets on first load
Nothing. When you load any page on kb.isp6.net, no cookies are set on
your device, first-party or third-party. There is no cookie banner because
there is nothing to ask consent for at this stage.
Local storage
This site uses your browser's local storage, a similar technology to cookies, and treated the same way under PECR Reg. 6 and Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, for one purpose only:
- Theme preference. When you toggle between light and dark mode using the
control in the page header, your choice is stored locally so that the site
remembers it on your next visit. The value stored is a single string (for
example
"default"or"slate") and contains no personal data, no identifier and no behavioural information. It never leaves your device. We rely on the strictly-necessary exemption in PECR Reg. 6(4) and Recital 66 of the ePrivacy Directive: storing the preference you have just expressed is required to deliver the function you have requested.
You can clear local storage at any time from your browser's site-settings panel; the next visit will start with the default theme.
Embedded video (YouTube)
Some pages, including the home page, contain a placeholder for a video hosted on YouTube. We use a click-to-load design: the placeholder is a static image with a play button, and no connection is made to YouTube until you click it. Specifically:
- Before you click, the only network request related to the video is a single
thumbnail image fetched from
i.ytimg.com. No scripts run, no cookies are set, and YouTube does not know that you have visited the page. - When you click the play button, the placeholder is replaced with an
embedded player from
youtube-nocookie.com. This is YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode: it does not set advertising or personalisation cookies on initial load. However, it does set a small number of functional cookies for the player itself (volume, language, playback state) and may set additional cookies once playback begins. - Your click on the play button is treated as your consent to load the YouTube embed and the cookies that come with it. If you do not wish to load YouTube content, simply do not click the play button. The rest of the page works without it.
We have no control over the cookies set by YouTube once the embed has loaded. Their use is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and YouTube's cookie disclosures.
Third-party cookies
This site does not set any third-party cookies of its own, and it embeds
no third-party content that loads on page view. The only third-party cookies
that can ever be set as a result of visiting kb.isp6.net are those set by
YouTube after you have actively clicked a video play button, as described
above.
There is no Google Analytics, no Hotjar, no Meta Pixel, no Intercom, no LinkedIn Insight Tag, no Cloudflare bot-management cookie, and no fingerprinting library on this site.
The isp6 platform
The application portal at www.isp6.net is a separate site with its own,
slightly different cookie set. For the platform's own cookie disclosures, see the
isp6 Platform Cookie Policy.
Managing storage in your browser
Most modern browsers let you view, manage, delete and block cookies and local storage for any site, usually under "Privacy", "Security" or "Site settings". Because this site sets no cookies on first load and uses local storage only to remember a preference you set yourself, there is nothing you need to clear here for routine privacy hygiene, but you can do so at any time without breaking the site.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the site or to applicable law. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
